Vic was a theoretical chemist who became a pioneer
in the application quantum theory to solid state physics and chemistry. He worked with us for very many years, starting in 1971 as a Senior Scientific Officer at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Oxfordshire, where he used his skills and expertise to create reliable programmes for ATLAS, one of the UK's first national supercomputers. In the early 1980s he and his colleagues moved to the Daresbury Laboratory in Cheshire where he continued applying his talents to creating robust, efficient codes, forming international collaborations and developing software for scientific innovation until he retired in 2003.
Our thoughts are with Vic's family at this time.
