Greetings! Allow me to introduce myself, I am the Scientific Computing Services Manager (read as “Cat Herder" [1]), for Tier-1 at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. The Tier-1 being part of the Systems Division of the Scientific Computing Department (SCD).
In this role I am responsible for (but not limited to), ensuring the high availability all Tier-1 services, dealing with operational incidents, taking an appropriate role in the Tier1 Incident/Disaster management and business continuity, managing (planning, scheduling, coordinating, announcing) downtimes and am the Tier-1 point contact for WLCG and GridPP.
So I guess that if it's Tier-1 that goes wrong, it's most likely me you going to be calling!
[1] An idiom denoting a futile attempt to control or organize a class of entities which are inherently uncontrollable - as in the difficulty of attempting to command a large number of cats into a group (herd).
