Wei has joined in the Engineering and Environment group since 2016, based at STFC Daresbury Laboratory in Warrington.
She is an experienced researcher with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. She has a strong research professional focusing on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), turbulence modelling, thermal-hydraulics and particle/droplet tracking in a hybrid Euler-Lagrange frame. She is vastly experienced in passive and active flow control studies using hybrid RANS/LES simulations, flow and heat transfer modelling in Gen-IV nuclear reactors and particle/droplet transport simulations in electrohydrodynamics (EHD), e.g. application in mass spectrometry.
She is the main developer and maintainer of the DNS research code CHAPSim for simulating fluids at supercritical conditions. She is also a highly skilled user of ANSYS Fluent/CFX, OpenFoam and Code_Saturne for various CFD related topics in both academia and industry.
Her key interest topics are:
- Thermal hydraulics in nuclear reactors
- Turbulence and heat transfer modelling for general applications
- Discrete phase modelling in applied CFD and EHD
- Coupled multi-physics and multi-scale simulation
- High performance computing
