I am part of the team that supports the JASMIN project. The team provides key services for the data analysis environments used by the tenants. This includes the provision of storage, compute and batch processing services for the tenants as well as carrying out scheduled updates and deployments of new and upgraded services.
I started my career as an Electronics Engineer, at the British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre (BUTEC). I then moved to a systems administrator role working on DEC Alpha computer systems, initially on the National Driver Information Control System (NADICS) for Scotland. I then worked for one of the UK's largest publishing companies on their Alpha systems and finally as an infrastructure engineer supporting the companies two colocation data centres.
Before joining the JASMIN team, my previous position was with Satellite Applications Catapult managing their cloud environment for the geospatial community. I also worked on a number of commercial projects delivering access to the in house Sentinel data catalog as well as ensuring they had the correct compute resources. The most recent project was the Cryosat reprocessing campaign, which involved the collection, consolidation, processing and repatriation of the data.
