The CoSeC Impact Award was launched for the first time in November 2019, with the triple aim of: recognising the research of Masters, PhD students or early career researchers who have received some form of support from CoSeC through the network of communities it supports; raising awareness of these communities; and providing a channel through which to collect evidence of the impact of CoSeC and its supported communities on science, society and the economy.
The overall winner of the 2020 Award, Dr. Natalie Tatum, was presented virtually with an engraved glass trophy at the biannual meeting of the Collaborative Computational Projects (CCP) Steering Panel, where she was congratulated by the chairs of the CoSeC-supported CCPs. Natalie won the award for her application describing how several CCP communities enabled her work on building a computational workflow that accelerates the discovery of drugs that combat antimicrobial drug resistance.
Developing a case study from the work described in the application is one of the career-enhancing prizes offered to the winner and runners-up, and Natalie's, along with those of the 2nd (Dr. Richard Brown) and 3rd (Dr. Evangelos Papoutsellis) placed applicants can be found here.
