​​​Catherine Jones lead the Software Engineering Group Leader in the Scientific Computing Department at STFC.  She has a computing degree, is a member of the British Computer Society and a chartered Librarian.​

She has a wide experience in providing information systems and services to the academic community,  both within and external to STFC using her software engineering and information management expertise to deliver effective services to user communities.  Her Group provides Anvil, for research software testing,  to UK academic computational science community ; experimental research data management pipelines to STFC Facilities, publication and data repositories to STFC staff.   Her personal research interests are the digital curation of software & data, persistent identification of software;  linking research outputs (data, publications and software) and career paths for Research Software Engineers.

She is a member of the SSI Advisory Board and the Research Software Alliance​ organising committee, on the Re3data editorial board and the organising committee for the SC19 Early Careers Programme.
