A high-order hybrid numerical method for DNS of hypersonic flow past a blunt body
Anonymous solutions are observed when evaluating some high-order upwind schemes on calculating hypersonic flows around a circular cylinder. Strong numerical oscillations on flowfield and inaccurate wall heat transfer rates exit in these evaluations, especially with high-Re numbers. In order to perform a DNS on the hypersonic flow over a blunt body, a high-order hybrid central-AUSMPW+ method is suggested to achieve the numerical stability in the shock zone and the low dissipation in the wall turbulent zone at the same time. With this hybrid method, a DNS on the turbulent boundary layer of the hypersonic flow over a circular cylinder is conducted for the first time. Analyses have been made on the turbulent structures, the boundary layer profiles and distributions of the wall properties.
